Mario Carini

 Head of Global Corporate & Commercial and Reinsurance for the Generali Group in Austria, Central-Eastern Europe and Russia (ACEER)

Mario Carini will assume the roles of Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Generali osiguranje d.d. subject to and after obtaining the regulatory approval. He is currently the Head of Global Corporate & Commercial and Reinsurance for the Generali Group in Austria, Central-Eastern Europe and Russia (ACEER). At Group level, he is a member of both the Group Reinsurance Committee and the management team of Generali Global Corporate & Commercial. From 2013 to 2019 he was also a member of the Management Board of GP Reinsurance EAD in Sofia, Bulgaria. In the last years he has been directly involved in the steering activities of a number of Group projects and activities in the areas of Sustainability, Climate Strategy, Nat Cat Portfolio Management and the development of the SME segment. Mario started his insurance career at Generali’s Head Office within the foreign insurance operations area. He then moved to London, U.K., where he was involved in underwriting activities, before relocating to Prague, Czech Republic, at the time of the setup of the former Generali PPF Holding (now Generali CEE Holding), where he has held positions with increasing responsibilities in the P&C insurance and reinsurance areas. He holds an Executive Master in Business Administration from the HSG - University of St. Gallen, Switzerland; a Diploma in Insurance (DipCII) from the Chartered Insurance Institute, U.K and a degree in Economics from the University of Pisa and the St. Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa, Italy. He is also an alumnus of the United World College of the Adriatic in Duino, Italy. In addition to his native Italian, he is fluent in English and conversational in German and Czech.
